The Effects of Combined Training on Abdominal Fat and Adipocytokines in Obese Adolescents

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of abdominal fat volumes and adipocytokines such as leptin, tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-¥á and interleukin(IL)-6 after 16weeks combined training. Subjects were consisted of fourteen obese adolescents. The training program was separated treadmill running and muscular resistance training. The treadmill running was composed of 60%HRR(Intensity), 30 minutes per day(Duration), 4 days per week(Frequency). The muscular resistance training was composed of 60% of 1RM(Intensity), 40 minutes per day(Duration), 4 days per week(Frequency). We found that percent body fat, abdominal fat volumes, leptin and insulin concentrations were significantly decreased and lean body mass was significantly increased after 16 weeks combined training. Also, TNF-¥á and IL-6 were tended to decrease after 16 weeks combined training. In conclusion, these findings suggest that decreasing body fat and abdominal fat may prevent the elevation of cytokine levels by combined training.
